i know for a fact that our beloved hero sparlock has been given a different name in at least one other language version of the "become jehovah's friend" dvd.
caleb has also been given a different name in the same video.
obviously it makes a degree of sense to rename caleb according to names that are common in various different countries.
Not sure why, but for some reason I thought cedars was in Great Britain. Oh well, I definitely understand the need for discretion.
My take on the name Sparlock: When I first heard it I thought it was a hybrid of "spar" (sparring, fighting, warring) and "arlock" (shortening of Warlock, male witch, i.e. wizardry). Thus was the Warrior Wizard born!

well, i got a brand new bovine valve, june 21 was the date.
three hour surgery,no other problems.
four day stay in the hospital was the plan,however, i caught a body rash and had to be held over for four more days.

Just a nit-pick, but I think "virtual China" is probably a more accurate description of JWs access to information.
As you know JWs are allowed to watch the news, read the newspaper, etc. Just no "unapproved" sources.

i see a lot of mentions about hospitality after the public talk and honestly, i guess it is a practice that was not in the ny/ct area i grew up in or here in south florida today.. i grew up with an elder father and grandfather who gave public talks and were generally well-liked.
as a child, i never recall being invited to someone's house after the meeting.
granted, it was rare to travel more than an hour but regardless, it was typical to get in the car and head home after the "amens.
In our part of the greater San Francisco Bay Area OFFERING hospitality is the norm for the Talk Coordinator. He asks: "And, will you be able to stay for hospitality?" (Yes/No) "And how many will be coming with you so "the friends" can plan accordingly?"
On average, only about 50% of speakers around here stay for the whole meeting and hospitality.
There was one congregation in Oakland (can't remember the name now) that was well-known for always having a big Book Study potluck (oops, can't say "luck") for any visiting speaker. It truly felt like hospitality.

my wife and i are thinking of moving our family to a better place in the us....away from jw family and out of the southern bible belt.
just curious how many of you live around co and, more specifically, near fort collins?
of course, we're open to any city that is less conservative and has awesome summer weather and outdoor activities.
